Microsoft Outlook allows you to assign
a keyword to each contact item in your Contacts List.
This keyword is called a Category. Categories allow
you to sort, filter and group by the Category keyword.
Outlook supplies a list of predefined Category keywords
you can use or, if you prefer, you can choose create
your own. When you create a new Contact in Outlook there
will be an option on the screen to assign a Category
keyword. Please refer to your Outlook documentation
for further help in assigning Categories.
So why is this important to us? Well,
by using Categories, SyncCell allows you to create various
synchronization options for your Contacts when using
OneSync. For instance, you might only want to sync Contacts
that belong to a Category called "Business".
In order to use Categories when synching
your Contacts, you will need to make sure that whatever
Category keyword you have chosen in Outlook is also
setup on your mobile phone. For example, if you create
and use a Category called "Family" within
Outlook you will have to create that Category on your
mobile device as well.
This How To guide will demonstrate how
to View, Add and Delete Contacts Categories for your
Mobile Device.
1. Start
SyncCell and click 'Settings' from the menu buttons
on the main screen:

2. The
'Settings & Options' dialog window will appear.
Click the 'Contacts (Advanced)' configuration tab at
the top of the 'Settings & Options' dialog box:

3. Locate
the 'Mobile Device Category Maintenance' section located
on the 'Contacts (Advanced)' tab of the 'Settings &
Options' dialog window.

You'll notice this section contains three
option buttons named View, Add and Delete. We'll look
at each of these options in turn in the following steps.
4. View option
- To view existing Categories that are setup on your
mobile device, locate and click the 'View' button in
the 'Mobile Device Category Maintenance' section. The
'Current Mobile Device Categories' message box will
appear showing which categories are set up on your mobile
phone. Individual results may vary. When you are done
viewing current Categories, select the 'OK' button to
close the 'Current Mobile Device Categories' message
box.

5. Add option
- To add a Category to your mobile phone device, locate
and click the 'Add' button in the 'Mobile Device Category
Maintenance' section. The 'Add Mobile Device Category'
dialog window will appear. Enter the name of the new
Category you would like to create on you mobile device
and the select the 'OK' button.

The following message will alert you when
the Add function is complete. This example is telling
us that a Category named "Family" has been
added.

3. Delete
option - To Delete a Category from your mobile device,
locate and click the 'Delete' button in the 'Mobile
Device Category Maintenance' section. The 'Choose a
Mobile Device Category to Delete' dialog window will
appear. Select the Category you wish to delete from
your mobile device and then select the 'OK' button.
In the following example we have chosen the "Family"
category for deletion.

The following message will alert you when
the Delete function has completed.
